The origins of the Vitry factory date back to the Middle Ages, when monks had established a saber and sword factory in Nogent. Their knowledge then evolved to the creation of surgical instruments.
Our history
During the French Revolution, the monks were chased away. The abbey became a national workshop which was sold by the Director to the Vitry brothers in 1795.
Vitry took things to an international level and participated in various trade fairs and shows, in particular several global shows, thereby strengthening their worldwide reputation. All their drawings, models and inventions won the Vitry Brothers several awards: Paris in 1867, 1869 and 1876; Amsterdam in 1867, Bordeaux in 1865, Philadelphia in 1876…
Their surgical instrument range was also presented and won awards at international exhibitions, such as Melbourne in 1880.
The Vitry house was purchased by the THINET company (founded in 1856). Mr Jules Thinet invented, among other things, the disposable blade razor.
His successor and grandson, Mr Maxence Villiers, launched a professional manicure-pedicure range designed exclusively for Pharmacies.
In 2005, VITRY approves its first manicure care line in response to the additional needs of the accessory line.
Acquisition of the famous specialist eye makeup brand, LONGCILS BONCZA. Founded in 1950 by Professor BONCZA, creator of the Cake Mascara, created for actresses at the time and forever popular thanks to its exclusive formula.
Transfer and modernisation, with a new VITRY industrial site in Nantes to continue and add to our development.
